Translink
UX Audit - Northern Ireland’s Primary Public Transport Operator
A critical evaluation of the Translink website revealed significant pain points that fail to comply with the WCAG Accessibility Guidelines and Jakob Nielsen Usability Guidelines.
I systematically prioritised and assessed the pain points using Jakob Nielson’s Severity Rating Flow. Focusing on the most impactful issues effecting user experience.
The audit demonstrates highlights the insights into targeted, user-centric wireframe designs. Improving accessibility and usability, enhancing user experience.

Why Translink
Design Process
I chose Translink based on primary user experience, and passion. This allowed me to accurately evaluate the website through real world task based interactions like purchasing a ticket or planning a journey.
My Initial and Revised Thoughts
I documented my initial thoughts, representing early findings on usability and accessibility issues. Identifying points of friction and inspecting why and how I could rectify, using WCAG accessibility guidelines and Neilson's heuristics. Revised thoughts highlighted my strategy on improving the issues found. Maintaining similar frameworks and aesthetics.

Identifying Pain Points and their Improvements
I conducted an evaluation based on simulating a real user journey. This revealed authentic pain points. I reached 10 usability and accessibility issues then prioritised them against the Nielsons severity rating flow, focusing on the majorly impacting user experience issues. Addressing issues ensured for my improvements to meet the goals, enhance usability and clarity of status for the user.
Development
Before VS After Wireframes
Before
After
When redesigning the wireframes, I prioritised clear system feedback and documentation, visual hierarchy and usability. I created solutions matching the existing brand framework and aesthetic, maintaining consistency, improving the user journey and flow.
Testing and Feedback
Feedback
After submission I received positive and insightful feedback. This will allow me to iterate and improve my skills for future projects of this nature. Reflection
Pro’s and Con’s from my perspective
I loved this project as it enhanced my ability to think critically and evaluate usability and accessibility guidelines within a real, close-to-home project. Implementing structured audit feedback was something new. Challenging me to look deeper within the functionality of the website and how I must implement the design corrections whilst adhering to the aesthetic and functions available. This project has enhanced my passion for delivering effective, user-centred design solutions.
